Bones exhibition

Even by their usual standards, this was a big exhibition for GNM Hancock. Great North Museums has a rich and diverse collection that is often languishing in storage, and they saw an opportunity to showcase some of this to the public. Their idea centred around their osteological stock, and Bones, Skeletal Secrets of the Animal Kingdom was created.

The upstairs exhibition space is the entire width of the building and there was a lot to work with. I decided to split the room into sections, each one corresponding with the content supplied. The colour coding informed visitors that there were distinct themes to be explored even though there were no physical boundaries to the sections.

There was a range of physical and digital interactives for all ages as well, which expanded the offering and allowed more varied interaction with the exhibition as well as offering learning opportunities for visitors and school groups.
