About

I’m Simon. I’m a graphic designer and brand expert with 25 years’ experience. Over my career I’ve seen and done it all – since completing my degree at LJMU Art School in 1998 I have worked in agencies and in-house design teams. I have freelanced at large and small agencies too for the last few years whilst building my current client list.

The projects I’ve worked on have been wide-ranging and varied. I’ve created for global companies like Akzo Nobel, Dunhill and Volvo as well as UK household names like Gala Bingo, The Pen Shop and Greene King. I get particular enjoyment from branding, and have created logos and brands for businesses large, small and everything in between. I deliver brand seminars and workshops to help organisations understand the crucial role branding plays in business, especially in this increasingly visual age.

I have a good deal of experience in a niche area too – exhibition design. I have worked on large and small scale projects and have also consulted for museums in the UK. I have researched, written, curated and designed exhibitions for GNM Hancock, South Tyneside Council’s The Word, Durham University, Bailiffgate Museum, York Castle Museum, Discovery Museum, South Shields Museum & Art Gallery and more.

These have been amongst my favourite projects to work on, with the Bodies of Evidence exhibition (for Durham University and Palace Green Library) winning a Journal Culture Award. It featured on the US version of the genealogy programme Who Do You Think You Are? as Hollywood star Jon Cryer’s genealogy was traced to the Scottish soldiers whom the exhibition centered around.
