Amazing Space

This was one of my favourite ever projects to work on – the Amazing Space exhibition at The Word in South Shields. Not only did I get to work on designing the exhibition’s layout and graphics, there was substantial research, writing and procurement involved. Amongst the props I managed to source was real space rock, a Washington Post newspaper the day after the moon landing signed by Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin and even a lock of Neil Armstrong’s hair (his barber used to keep his trimmed hair and sold it to collectors).

The exhibition was all about humankind’s obsession with space – from our earliest writings and our ancestors’ theories about the night sky to the era of the space race and Sci-fi TV and films.

The exhibition also had an array of interactives such as apps, puzzles and soundscapes. There was also a specially-commissioned short film about the life of an astronaut for which I rote the script.
