Hadrian Border Brewery is based in Newburn, Newcastle. At the time, HBB was a 20-barrel business with a niche market. Their labels had been done internally in a disparate and ad-hoc manner. There was a logo but no brand. The first task was to bring all the labels together to have a similar but individual look. The suggestion of standardising the shape of the labels and pump clip was not what HBB were after at the time, so there was an extra task in trying to find some uniformity in the context of individuality. Each illustration was hand-drawn in a similar style with a uniform grain, other than one created for charity in association with The Viz comic. Their new look was popular and allowed them to make inroads into shops and supermarkets, taking their look to a more coherent and professional level.
